26 Jul Pro Bono Design Work

From time to time I select a non-profit organization to do pro bono design work for. This is a way to play as a creative while benefiting the public.
Pro bono publico (usually shortened to pro bono) is a Latin phrase that means “for the public good.” It’s generally used to describe professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment as a public service. But unlike traditional volunteerism, pro bono uses the specific skills of professionals to provide services to those who are unable to afford them.
Small non-profits are the companies that are most in need.
I chose WFS due to their need for professionally branded marketing materials.
Founded in 1975, Women for Sobriety (WFS) is the first peer-support program tailored specifically for women overcoming substance use disorders (SUDs). The WFS New Life Program is inclusive of all women, regardless of financial resources, race, religion, abilities, and backgrounds. Founded by a sociologist, Jean Kirkpatrick, Ph.D., who believed that women face unique challenges in overcoming addiction, the WFS New Life Program is specifically designed to help women overcome guilt, depression, and low (or no) self-esteem for which substances have become the primary coping mechanism.
