Case Study: iKey – A Legacy of Rugged Innovation


Founded 31 years ago in an Austin, Texas garage, iKey has grown into a leader in the rugged peripherals market. Known for premium quality keyboards, their products are used in diverse environments, from Air Force One to local hospitals. iKey offers an extensive product line, including keyboards, pointing devices, displays, tablet cases, and mobile accessories, with a reputation for excellent customer service and prompt delivery.


Challenges: iKey faced several challenges: an inconsistent brand identity across digital marketing assets, product sheets, and brochures; an underperforming, outdated WordPress website; low organic search visibility; ineffective digital advertising; and challenged with the implementation of a CRM system with marketing automation.


Objectives: The objectives were to establish a consistent brand identity, redesign digital marketing materials, audit and improve the website, enhance SEO, optimize digital ad campaigns, and implement the Salesforce CRM system with Marketing Cloud automation.


Solutions and Implementation: A cohesive brand style guide was developed, and all marketing assets, product sheets, and brochures were redesigned. The WordPress website underwent a thorough audit and overhaul, improving UX/UI design, performance, and mobile responsiveness. Extensive keyword research and on-page SEO optimization were conducted, along with a content strategy for high-quality, keyword-rich blog posts and landing pages.


Google Display Network and PPC ad campaigns were redesigned for better targeting and engagement, using A/B testing to optimize performance. Salesforce CRM was improved through data cleanup and staff training, while Marketing Cloud was integrated for marketing automation, resulting in more efficient lead nurturing. Automated email templates, segmented lists, and customized landing pages were created.


Results: The new brand identity enhanced iKey’s professional image. Website traffic increased by 45%, with better engagement metrics. Organic search traffic rose by 50%, and key product pages ranked higher on Google. The revamped ad campaigns increased click-through rates by 35% and reduced cost-per-click by 25%.
