Mobile devices are always on and accessed everywhere. Portability makes mobile more personal and unlike any other form of media. There is an opportunity right now for your brand or business to get ahead and not get left behind.

Facts on mobile’s growth:

  • IDC reported that smartphones outsold PCs for the first time ever in Q4 2010.
  • Mobile paid search impressions increased 238% from January 2010 to January 2011 compared to only 13% growth in computer based search.
  • M-Commerce is predicted to reach US $119 billion in 2015.
  • Over 300,000 mobile apps have been developed in three years. Apps have been downloaded 10.9 billion times.
  • Morgan Stanley predicts mobile will be bigger than desktop internet in 5 years.

As mobile devices become more sophisticated and easier to use, mobile search has become the starting point for consumers on the go. Mobile search and mobile web are a good entry point for marketers just getting started with mobile campaigns. In 2011, Forrester predicts that marketers will take the training wheels off mobile programs and start investing in cohesive mobile marketing strategies.

From SMS ads to location-based check-in deals and mobile bar codes, mobile marketing opportunities require new creative and new thinking on how to best use them. The biggest challenge is understanding how these mobile marketing opportunities are best integrated with other mediums and overall marketing strategies.

Unlimited mobile marketing possibilities:

  • Mobile Web
  • Mobile search
  • SMS (text messaging)
  • Mobile advertising (banner, interstitial, video)
  • Mobile apps
  • Location-based
  • Mobile bar codes (QR)
  • Mobile commerce & shopping

The more you integrate your mobile and wireless marketing efforts into the overall marketing mix, the better your results.

  • Event sponsorship activation (photo blogging, offers, polling, lead generation)
  • Real-time loyalty
  • Promotions and games

Facebook Studio: A Community for Agency Creatives

Facebook launched a community site (facebook-studio.com) for ad agency creatives where they can share ideas, comment on campaigns and learn what it takes to create a successful page.

The site features lots of videos like the one above, case studies and an agency directory. As a creative and technical person I’ve been helping agencies and businesses navigate Facebook and design and develop apps for the platform the past few years, and I think this is a great idea and resource. It’s nice to see Facebook embrace and reward the creative community that spends much of their time educating clients, designing and developing innovative new products for the platform.

Have you checked it out yet? What do you think of it?
